Bright Leisure Journal

Write for us

Bright Leisure Journal welcomes clear, original pitches about pastimes, outings, gatherings, seasonal recreation and the choices people make with their free time.

What we welcome

Pitch a specific subject that can help readers understand an activity, compare ways to spend time, avoid a common misconception or plan a particular kind of leisure occasion. We value fresh angles, careful explanations and ideas that do not depend on invented experience or unsupported claims.

What makes a strong pitch

Tell us the working idea, the reader question it answers, the main point you would make and why it fits Bright Leisure Journal. Include a brief outline and any relevant sources or expertise. Keep the proposal focused enough to show how it differs from a general list of suggestions.

Sending a proposal

Send pitches through the Contact page and select the editorial question option, explaining that your message is a contribution proposal. Do not send a complete article unless we have requested one. A submission is not a promise of publication.

Our point of view

Free time is worth choosing

Leisure need not become another project to manage. A good choice fits the day at hand and leaves space for the pleasure of doing it.
